Privacy Policy

Data kept on your device

The app can store your podcast library, episodes, playback progress, playlists, Playing Next queue, settings, audio downloads, and some image or audio-analysis caches locally. This data stays on your device unless you turn on a feature that syncs it (iCloud or the web sync described below).

iCloud sync

If an iCloud feature is enabled, some library and preference data may be synced through Apple's services, between your Apple devices. That data is then handled according to your Apple account's settings and privacy policy.

Account and web sync (optional)

You can create a free account, with an email address and password or via "Sign in with Apple". This account is used only to identify you for sync and the web player.

Only if you explicitly turn on "Sync my library for the web", a copy of the following is sent to our servers so you can access it from a browser: your subscriptions, your playlists, your Playing Next queue, and your playback positions. Your password is never kept by us (it is handled by the authentication service), and your email address never appears in the web-readable data.

• Processor / host: Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore).
• Storage location: European Union (the multi-region "Europe" location).
• Legal basis: your consent (the sync toggle), revocable at any time, and performance of the service you request.
• Without consent, nothing leaves your device for this feature; if you turn it off, your server copy is deleted.

Your rights

• Turn off sync at any time (Settings, Account section): your server copy is then erased.
• Delete your account directly in the app (Settings, Account, Delete account): your account and your synced library are removed from our servers.
• Under the GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, and portability. Contact us (below) to exercise them.

Network, podcasts, and search

When you add or refresh a podcast, in the app or on the web player, the app contacts RSS feeds, podcast hosting services, image services, or Apple's public podcast search API to get the information needed to display and play content. These third-party services may receive technical information such as your IP address, the requested URLs, and the usual network metadata.

Notifications

If you turn on new-episode notifications, the app can send an installation identifier, a notification token, the feeds you follow, and minimal technical information to the notification service used to detect new episodes.

Analytics and diagnostics

Fennec Cast may produce local technical logs to help diagnose playback or performance issues. These logs stay on your device unless you voluntarily choose to share them to get help.

Local storage in the web player

The web player (fennec-podcast.com) keeps some data in your browser's local storage — your theme choice, cover images, and a cached copy of your synced library (subscriptions, playlists, Playing Next and playback positions) — so it loads quickly and remembers your place. This is purely functional: it stays on your device, is never used for advertising or tracking, and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings or by signing out.
